We all love to try out new and different styles, and Hollywood’s biggest stars are no different. On a recent magazine shoot for Marie Claire, megastar Kate Hudson went for sophisticated glam, playing against her boho spirit; and America's newest sweetheart, Ginnifer Goodwin, tried out masculine-inspired looks with a fun pompadour style instead of her usual girl-next-door look.
The shoot, which was planned as a boy-meets-girl scenario, was originally envisioned so that the very pregnant Hudson could wear the baggier men’s fashions (with a matching masculine inspired 'do). Goodwin was slated to wear the feminine dresses she traditionally favors.
But on the day of the shoot, the stars went for a big risk in deciding to switch up their regular styles—and according to the story, were delighted with their new looks. As any beauty pro who has ever worked on a photo shoot knows ... be prepared to expect the unexpected!
Master stylist Chris McMillan, who also owns a salon in Beverly Hills, did the hair for this shoot. He said of the looks, “We made Ginny androgynous, with Elvis Presley hair, and went very polished—full, fluffy hair—with Kate,” he says. “The contrast is pretty amazing.” See more pics from the shoot below!
What do you think of these star style switch-ups? How often should a star (or regular client) aim to shake up their look? Also, how do you determine which looks to do for photo shoots in your salon, and do they end up as you planned?
